Offering products in your photography business doesn’t mean turning into a pushy salesperson. (Oh, I've said that before!) Done well, selling is just another form of great service. Here’s how to make it feel effortless and truly valuable — for both you and your clients :) 1. Start with the why Don’t jump straight into product talk. In your interactions with clients, help them understand why printing matters. Share stories, examples, and your own philosophy. Be the person who loves their products! Explain how an album becomes a family heirloom. How a framed To View More >>

Previous |  Contents | Next Download the eBook There are so many reasons why the printed image matters, but long term accessibility to your most treasured photos is surely a deal breaker. Why printed images matter Back in the ’90s I remember walking back to our trade show booth behind two people from a neighbouring stand. They were into IT. As they approached our booth I heard one say to the other, “I feel sorry for these guys. How long can they last in the modern world?” It’s so long ago I feel like they must have been visionaries — how did they know To View More >>

If the last couple of years have taught us anything it's to be prepared – so we’re sending our holiday guidelines early so you have you plenty of time to plan for the busy season. We always stress that these are guidelines, not deadlines, but we do encourage you to get your orders in by the following dates, to ensure we can deliver them before the holidays. Things are more normal now than last year — no more lock downs, we hope! But supply challenges and/or courier delays are still quite likely, so please don't wait until the last minute. What is "aspect ratio", and why can it be a problem? The aspect ratio of an image is the ratio of its width to its height. Unless the aspect ratio of a print or frame matches that of the camera image from which it is made, the original image will need to be cropped. What to do When shooting, bear in mind the finished print that you want to sell. If you frame the subject tightly (with important content out to the edges of the image) you won't be able to crop — you'll need to order prints with the same aspect ratio as the camera. Since most digital camerals have an To View More >>

We’re proud to be supporting David and Luke Edmonson at WPPI this year. They’re talking about perhaps the most important challenge facing every professional photographer – how to transform their passion for photography into a successful longterm career. Luke and David want to be known for producing great photography, and serving their clients — but of course every sustainable business needs to generate profits as well. We’re going to publish an article about their sales strategies shortly, along with some of their work, but first we thought you’d like To View More >>

Modern cameras have sensors capable of producing big, beautiful images. They output files that can make large wall portraits without effort. But what happens when you want the image to be smaller, as in an album? What happens when you downsize a file that's big enough to print a large wall portrait, to create a 3x2" image on a page layout? When you export your images from Photojunction for printing, the software runs an automatic Photoshop process that resizes them and places them into a PSD file. The images are enlarged or reduced, and positioned to suit how you want them to appear on the To View More >>

Betsy and Mark wed in the heart of Toronto, Canada at The Drake Hotel. Their photographer Christine (From Christine Lim Photography), said it was "Such a fun + heartfilled event. I couldn’t have asked to be a part of anything more genuine and, well FUN!" Betsy and Mark chose a 14x10H Duo. Christine has kept the design of this album consistent and timeless. (And it is always nice to see full bleed images!) These rooftop photographs are a lovely selection - and what a lovely Mother Daughter moment. All Duo images are printed on photographic paper using To View More >>

Yesterday I came across these beautiful invitations by Atelier Isabey. I wish I could touch them. I wish you could! Imagine our first sensory experience as babies - touch, taste, smell, sound, vision - how gradually they made the world real and meaningful... And how we realised that the world isn't just out there, that we can design it - make it beautiful - the origin of art, craft, home-making, cooking, gardening... based sometimes on our traditions, sometimes on our own creativity. I know some of us are more conscious of these things than others, but at least for the fortunate among us, finely To View More >>
